OTS Performs Sonar Surveys for Aquaculture

Called upon by an aquaculture client, Ocean Tech Services recently competed a project to locate oyster farming cages over large grant areas in the Delaware Bay. The cages, which were moved from their known locations as a result of ice flow from the Delaware River, were scattered over a wide area.

After analysis of current flow and winter storm events OTS identified the direction that cages were likely to have been dragged and designed the survey to optimize time and the chances of locating all equipment. OTS utilized an EdgeTech 4125 side scan sonar to locate over 30 missing cages and provided all position coordinates for recovery. The cages were later recovered and returned to their proper locations within grant areas.
