OTS Performs ROV Inspection Services for PGE at Wishon Dam, CA

Ocean Tech Services (OTS) was contracted by Phoenix International Inc. to provide our remotely operated vehicle (ROV) and pilot crew for video and sonar inspections of the submerged portion of the PGE Wishon Dam located in the Sierra Mountain range of California.

OTS mobilized the Apache ROV from Avalon NJ to Fresno CA and utilizing a flatbed truck with portable generator for delivery of the self-contained ROV system to the Wishon Dam location at 6,555’ elevation. The Apache ROV was outfitted with HD digital color zoom, low light color camera, 1F gripper, Tritech micron sonar, Valeport 803 current meter, Aris Explorer 3000 hi-res sonar, and laser sights to conduct measurements in poor visibility conditions. OTS services included a survey of the dam face to identify any cracks and fractures of the dam face. The ROV was deployed from the top of the dam to areas of interest as directed by the client’s engineering team.

OTS successfully completed the work on budget and schedule demonstrating our capability for inland subsea inspection work of critical infrastructure.
