Ocean Tech Services (OTS) has installed and commissioned a marine visibility monitoring system at the Pier 27 Exploratorium in San Francisco Bay. This is the third visibility system installed by OTS for the Marine Exchange of San Francisco (https://www.sfmx.org/). These sensors enhance the NOAA PORTS network of meteorological and oceanographic stations managed by the Marine Exchange. Data are transmitted in real-time to the NOAA monitoring system in Maryland for quality control, then made available to the public to support maritime awareness and safety (https://www.tidesandcurrents.noaa.gov/ports/index.shtml?port=sf).

Over the past decade OTS has provided SFMX with meteorological stations, visibility systems and buoy mounted current meters throughout the San Francisco Bay region to expand the network of real-time environmental data to support operational decision making for the ports of San Francisco and Oakland.
